This is a piece where I reel off things that annoyed me during my viewing of the film. If you haven't seen the movie then leave this page now because this blog will have spoilers. Just in case you haven't read this paragraph I am going to put SPOILERS in big letters below.
Spoilers!
1. Inconsistent Powers
Near the beginning of the movie Wolverine heals himself after getting hit by a nuclear bomb. He went to being completely burned all over to Hollywood Actor pretty in less than 30 seconds. Compare this to X-Men 2 - X-Men Harder where Wolverine gets shot in the head by a bullet from a normal gun. This knocked Wolverine out for a minute or two and that was with an invincible skull. This happened at the beginning of the movie, all it shows the viewers is that Wolverine is so overpowered that he can survive a nuke.
2. Sleep Hallucinations
After the 'getting nuked' scene we are introduced to a recurring scene in the movie, Wolverine waking up next to Jean Grey. I'm calling shenanigans. Jean Grey was Cyclops' girl. Wolverine does not deserve to be having hallucinogenic affairs with his team mate's girlfriend. Sure the previous movies showed that he wanted to bone her, but a man who has lived over 100 years, has seen friends and family die before him, could not muster up the effort it would take to care for this one person who died years prior. He may feel guilty about killing her after she resurrected but as he says in the movie "I had to kill you because you are a cosmic entity that could destroy the planet on a whim" (loosely quoted). Surely he could easily convince himself to not care for this woman.
3. Depowered
This is one of my gripes that annoyed me the most. They took away Wolverine's healing factor. I can't believe they did this. They have stated in the movies that Wolverine can only have the adamantium skeleton due to his healing factor or he would die of poisoning. As soon as they took away Wolverine's healing factor he should have died. Or at the very least he should have noticed before he got shot. It showed in this movie that Wolverine frequently wakes up with his claws snikt. Some nights he may not realise due to his healing factor healing his knuckles where his claws come out. Without his healing factor there would be blood, and he should have noticed it.
4. Silver Samurai
So Wolverine's friend faked his death and it turns out he was only Wolverine's friend in the first place to steal Wolverine's powers. Now I'm no X-Pert in Mutant biology or whatever but if you could steal someone's powers by just taking their bone marrow and injecting it into yourself, would it not be possible to replicate the DNA that gives off these powers. That is what I would have done if I had infinite money like the Silver Samurai. I don't get why he had to cut off Wolverine's indestructible claws though, that was silly. How did he know it was the only way to powersteal? When Samurai was trying to talk Wolverine into giving away his powers earlier why did he not mention that he would have to cut off his claws. If Wolverine's healing comes from his bones how does it get through the adamantium to heal his body? How come Silver Samurai de-aged when he got Wolverine's gunk in his system?
